Did you know that municipalities, airports, colleges, universities, state highway departments, and all government agencies can now order new equipment without going through the bid process.

G.S. 143-129 ...... “Any local government is allowed to purchase without a separate bidding procedure from any contractor (or dealer) that has, within the past 12 months, contracted to furnish the item to the federal government or any federal agency or the state of North Carolina or any agency or political subdivision of the state or any other state agency or political subdivision of that state, if the contractor is willing to extend the same or more favorable price and other terms to the local government. The law specifies that the prior contract must be one that was entered into following a public, formal bid process “substantially similar” to the one contained in G.S. 143-129.” .........
